Syllabus 6 to12 Months

About the Course

With this unique Assessment Training Course has been developed to educate those working the marine operations sector, moving heavy assets. With this training you will develop your skills and improve your knowledge of the marine offshore industry. This course will give you a greater understanding of the role of the Rig Move Master / Tow Master and will give you the skills an knowledge necessary to build a successful career within this fast growing industry. The Training modules include key topics such as the types of Rig Moves, Pilotage, Tug handling and Bridge management as well as other essential subjects such as law, port control, Bylaws and much more.

Course Structure

The course consists of 6 monthly modules, which can be worked through at own pace with a maximum duration of 12 months. All students are required to successfully complete and pass every module assignment. The Delegates are also required to sit and pass a final Assessment at the 6th or the 12 month due date.

Month 1 Introduction

  • Introduction and Intake

  • Legal framework – legislative and regulatory requirements

Month 2 Rig Move Training & Techniques

Month 3 Law, Contract, Negligence

Month 4 Use of Tugs – Perspective of the Tow Master/RMM

Master Mariner II/2 No Limitations | Course Director | Tow-Load Master | OIM | Jacking Specialist

Capt. John, started his career in 1985, he joined the Royal Dutch Navy as a third engineer. He sailed on self-propelled vessels with diesel shaft generator with FPP and electric or gas turbines propulsion with CPP and DP. By the time he was honorably discharged, after 5 years, he reached the rank of a first engineer.

During the last 38 years, John ranked himself up and specialized himself in the offshore industry as a Rig Move Master (RMM), Moving Heavy Rigs, Worldwide Offshore, hands-on. He worked and works/teaches professionals on projects from, and with companies such as, ARAMCO, ABL, SHELL, FUGRO, ADNOC, NPCC, ZADCO, ADMA, TOTAL, BP, SAIPEM, VELESTO, GM, SeaFox, INPEX, CHEVRON, MAERSK, SAPURA, GV to name a few.

Whilst on the job, John saw opportunities and obtained Certificates of Competency and Professional Certificates such as Master No Limitations, Dynamic Positioning (DPO), Offshore Installation Manager (OIM), STCW Competence Assessor, OPITO Competence Assessor, OPITO Major Emergency Initial Response (MEMIR), Marine Warranty Surveyor (MWS), Rig Move and Jacking Operations Masterclass Training Course Recognition by the Nautical Institute London UK.

John is training course facilitator for courses such as Offshore Towing (AHTS) and Anchor Handling, Jacking & Rig Move, MOU Comprehensive Stability, OIM, Barge Supervisor and On-Scene Commander. During the last years, John has Trained and Assessed a couple of hundred Rig Movers, OIM's, Barge Masters and Jacking Operators for Major O&G Companies and Operators of Rigs.
